Brave: Secret Lives, Second Chances Presents
Rwanda’s Second Act: Jean-Paul Samputu
With a history that is unimaginable and brutal, the Rwandan genocide resulted in a loss of 1 million citizens during 3 months of hatred. 25 years later, Rwanda has been given a second chance and become the jewel of sub-Saharan Africa – radiating with energy, excitement, and hope for what’s next.
Jean-Paul Samputu witnessed his family being killed by his neighbors during the Genocide of Rwanda in 1994. Having survived, Samputu has since become a cultural ambassador for Rwanda, making music that testifies to the tragedy as well as to his hopes for the future.
Samputu brings traditional African singing, dancing and drumming, and most importantly, a message of peace, hope, forgiveness, reconciliation, and love.
“When I came to forgive him, it was like I won.” — Jean-Paul Samputu, CBC News
Please note that it is 10 days of the Brave event (11/07/2019 to 21/07/2019). However, Jean-Paul will be performing on Sunday 14 July 2019 between 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
